Instructions: Find the exact shuttle scenarios that you need below taking into account the variables listed which can alter the prices, (usually two shuttles per authorized Okefenokee overnight trip) add them together, totals are subject to local sales tax of 7%. Finally don’t forget the refuge fee of $25, add this only once per authorized overnight trip even though 2 shuttles may be required.

Transportation Equipment: We own a comfortable 2006 Chevy Express 15 passenger van which allows us to do up to a 14 person shuttle. Our boat trailer will hold 6 canoes with lots of gear and racks on top of the van for 2 more canoes if necessary. The trailer also has a capacity to haul many more kayaks. Smaller groups we will use a compact cheaper to operate vehicle with roof racks to move fewer boats and people.

Attention: Please read this is important: Please note that Monday is our only day off. We will not work on Monday. Especially during the busy season (mid Feb.. – May and Oct.. – mid Dec.). We desperately need our time-off during those busy months and are very possessive of it. Sometimes we might be able to figure a creative way around a Monday but if that is not possible, we are sorry for the inconvenience, try to understand we must have a day off.

Special Gas Info Please Note: If gas prices climb above $3.00 a gallon we may need to add an additional amount to cover this cost increase to us.

These are the prices but keep in mind all prices are subject to change and should be correctly verified by e-mail or phone, please make sure you have all the variables correctly considered, they do effect the prices. Inevitably there are some scenarios out there we have not listed but these prices are the guidelines which we can follow as closely as possible.

We usually set up a specified shuttle rendezvous time to pick up – example- {a pick up at SFP at 3 PM on 6/10/09} or we can set up a more flexible schedule allowing for you to call us by your cell or the pay phone at SFP when you get off the water. Remember the travel times and understand it will require time for you to wait but you could put the extra time to good use by sorting gear, cleaning up and having everything ready for a fast load-up and not have to rush or worry about being late to the take out location.

Be aware that we charge a fee of $40. per hour and/or any part of an hour we have to wait for you to arrive at the designated pick up spot after the pre arranged rendezvous time.

Generally speaking almost everyone using our shuttle services leaves and locks their vehicles here at Okefenokee Pastimes our residence and place of business, parked in a designated shuttle parking area which is easy for loading and unloading and very near to our bedroom window. We take no legal responsibility for damages or theft but we live here at this location and have not had problems. We expect and intend to keep it that way.

We encourage you to compare prices as well as the quality of our service and equipment, phone (912) 496-4472 during office hours of 2pm-6pm Tuesday – Saturday eastern time, closed Mondays & Sundays except during certain seasons check latest news page.

In almost every situation using us should save you time, money and headaches. You can make it very easy on yourself. Consider staying with us the night before, rent our boats, leave your car here and let us shuttle you around the swamp. Also, we have a canoe/kayak trailer with 1&7/8th inch ball hitch, which we can under certain circumstances rent for moving boats in and out of the East Entrance to avoid paying the $25. commercial refuge fee. Our 15 passenger van with our trailer can carry 7 canoes and many more kayaks. Okefenokee Pastimes is a small but well run business, give us a try. Keep in mind there are only a two of us here running things, with a little seasonal spring & fall help. That fact makes time management and reservations a requirement for all shuttling.

Our business moves people and boats from place to place. We are not able to shuttle personal vehicles from place to place because of insurance liability & legal issues, a dual state jurisdiction plus a lack of manpower. Please do not ask us to do this because it’s not going to be possible. We can on the other hand be creative in the way we set up the shuttles. Call us and tell us your ideas, the worst we can say is, “It’s not possible for us to do.” or “We will think on it and get back with you.”

More Pertinent Shuttle Info

We must have a deposit to reserve shuttle time slots. A reservation deposit with a personal check (preferred) or credit card is expected to hold the shuttling time slots. Deposits are refundable less a $10. fee with 48 hour or more advance notice only if the refuge cancels your reserved trail. If you cancel, our policy is the same as the Refuge on deposit refunds (No Refunds). Sometimes it’s possible we might be able to work with you if you give us plenty of advanced notice like 2 weeks or more and it does not leave us in a bind. Feb.. – May and Oct.. – Dec.. are very difficult times for us to be very flexible. A cancellation always seems to cost us $$$ and it is not absorbed by our pricing.  Priority is given to guests who stay here and/or rent our boats.

Hours

Because we provide shuttle services, boat rentals as well as guided tours and all these activities usually need to happen in the mornings it is necessary for us to be closed to the general public in order to be able to provide these early morning services. It is therefore important to arrange a time to coordinate with us for these services.

We ask that you have respect for our time by being punctual at the appointed times and we will show you a mutual respect.

Keep in mind we live at our place of business and would like to have the same privacy and respect afforded to anyone else in their own home and at their off time.

Our Regular Season office hours are 2pm-6pm except Monday & Sunday (Certain Special Season hours may be different), it makes it all go easier if the would-be renter stays with us. That way we can easily take care of the boat rental paperwork ahead of time during office hours of the day before. By doing this, the boat and equipment can be made available from dawn until our closing time for a full days use. We can also make boats available for 24 hour rental periods arranged during office hours. Rentals conditionally arranged outside of regular office hours are many times subject to an additional (after hour fee) unless set up with a shuttle or some other service with a reservation.

Saint Mary’s River Trips, Shuttle Info & Prices

Okefenokee Pastimes also provides a shuttle service on the St. Mary’s River for overnight river trips plus a couple of day trips available under special circumstances. In most cases for us to provide the shuttle, you need be a guest here and/or rent boats from us. You must have a cell phone and some sort of first aid kit to take along unless pre-arranged otherwise.

Sometimes, during the warmer months (summer season) we are able to provide a shuttle service only on the St. Mary’s River for groups of paddlers up to 14 with their personal boats. Please check our price info below or call or e-mail us for a particular price quote or for further information.

Warning Please take note: The St. Mary’s is a mostly gentle flat water River but upper stretches because of numerous deadfalls and in some places narrow twists and turns especially during flood and high water at rainy times can have a swift current and during drought & low water can be tough going, both conditions can result in technically challenging paddling for almost anyone and sometimes dangerous situations for the novice paddlers. The river up stream from Thomkins Landing to St. George and further up is remote and hard to access to stage rescues especially in low water.

It is the paddlers responsibility to know their personal limitations and find out water conditions on the river at time of put in. We live near the river but not on it and we do not get on it every day or even week. Upper stretches are 20 + miles away and we cannot always check them easily. We will help with what we know but sometimes that might not be enough.

Preparation is key, if you haven’t a clue what your doing and refuse to employ good sense by taking a cell phone, a decent first aid kit plus other essential wilderness and safety items, please don’t use our services – especially for the overnight trips.

All river shuttle service customers will be asked to sign personal responsibility waivers.
