St Marys River Private Sightseeing Tour by Motorboat # M-R4

Description: This private guided tour is about 3 1/2 hours of watery explorations, Flora and Fauna observations and just boating fun on the River. The St Marys River is the Okefenokee’s daughter and Atlantic Ocean connection. The River is an incredibly undeveloped, not really very well known secret “Gem” that divides the states of Georgia and Florida. Or if you enjoy a New World European history perspective, it separated Colonial England’s southern frontier from what was the Spanish claimed territories. Kick back relax and enjoy your time on her. We might stop on a sandy Florida beach, stretch a little and have a bite to eat and possibly even a swim if the spirit moves you.
We could motor around the whole time and cover lots of water or be smart and cut the outboard motor so that we might enjoy the silence of being under power by a super quiet electric motor. The quiet slower more sensitive pace enables us to explore some nooks & crannies, sneak up on stuff and really appreciate this gorgeous waterway.
The intended plan is for you to relax and really enjoy this. We want you to have some fun, sometimes you can actually feel the stress of modern living leaving your body. Our favorite river boat seats 4 with comfortable swivel seatbacks and possible room for 1 more small person under unusual circumstances. {please see info below on our larger boat designed for larger groups}.
Cold drinks and water will be provided.
This private tour is ideal for amateur photographers, bird watchers, nature lovers and/or anyone who would rather take in this beauty with comfort, ease, safety and relaxation high on their list.
Guide Steve Knight (see guide bio)
You should bring: Optics, Field Guides, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain jackets (we will go rain or shine, so please be prepared), insect repellent, comfortable shoes and comfortable clothes. Hot and cold times of year please check with us about some special instructions.
Timing Info: The busiest times on the river are usually the weekends or holidays, a Friday afternoon, Saturdays and a Sunday after 11AM or almost any time of year except for the slowest months can mean sharing the waterways with others. For those reasons and some other good ones, (like early bird catches the worm). It is important that we go early AM when there is less activity, because we will probably have a better shot at solitude and a higher probability of wildlife sightings.
Consider staying in one of our comfortable, clean, cozy and convenient Cabins while doing your private River tour. It sure makes things so much easier, nicer & better for everyone especially you, to be right here. Enjoy being in the country and the fine natural surroundings, not to mention some great bird watching found here on our property. Okefenokee Pastimes is directly across from the main entrance to Okefenokee NWR and a mile from the St Marys river.
Take a break from TV (you might need it) although every Cabin and campsite has high speed internet WIFI reception and decent cell phone service here. All the Cabins are Non Smoking. A butt-can and ashtray can be provided for outside only smokers.
Our Cabins are Clean! & Nice! & Private! & Fun! And at a Reasonable Price! Charming plus Romantic for couples! You could stay at a B&B but it would not be cleaner or nicer, just fancier furniture (ours is simple but comfortable). Please go to the Deluxe cabin page for more details.
Guided Tour Discounts given to lodging guests:
$10 – discount given to guests in our Deluxe Cabins.
Pricing and details for more people & larger Boat:
As stated above we can add a fifth small person or child to our standard boat used in tours as long as the family and/or group agrees. Comfort and overall weight are important factors to be considered. Note – a fifth person added in our standard boat changes the price down to the same as a big boat tour priced at $75 per person.
Please ask about our larger capacity boat perfect for slightly larger groups of birders, photographers or friends & family. We offer this new and larger boat outfitted the same way (quiet electric motor) able to accommodate from five to eight people and sometimes more for about 3 hours on the water, a very similar high quality guided River boat experience.
Big Boat Prices:
$75 per person, 5 to 8 people in very comfortable seating, up to 10 are allowed in this larger boat with a larger electric motor perfectly suited for the St Marys River.
{Tour timing, availability, duration and areas covered on the St Marys River are subject to change with swamp & river water levels & weather conditions.}
