Who What Where When & Why

The Who
The owners are a couple, two progressive, independent and some say unconventional thinking native southerners. They have both been around the block a few times. A Georgian and a Floridian (what more could you expect) who both take tremendous pride and personal care in Okefenokee Pastimes, their own creation.

We are unconventional in our approach to many things such as advertising and traditional corporate business attitudes and techniques. We do not invest in the overpriced advertising associated with many guide books or meaningless alliances and/or other inflexible and obsolete information modes. Those things rarely seem to give an accurate picture of the reality. We have arrived at our determinations by extensive travel experiences ourselves, because we always seek but rarely find places similar to our business Okefenokee Pastimes.

The Internet and our conspicuous web site location on the information super highway is the main vehicle we use to tell people what our business is all about. In addition we possess a very prominent physical location in relation to the Okefenokee Swamp and St. Mary’s River.

Okefenokee Pastimes simply put is two individuals providing something very special that is not cheaply or easily advertised. Our web site okefenokee.com is the best conveyance we know of, for informative communications. Over the years (more than 18 now) we’ve noted that individuals who used the internet to gather information about us, not relying solely on printed or guidebook information are almost always satisfied with their Okefenokee Pastimes experience. Information is very powerful and we try and help you empower yourself with our web site information.

The Why
You might ask? Well, how’s this sound – we wanted to be good American Capitalists helping raise the GNP, running up credit bills, covering the important items of life, like fancy foods, very stylish clothing, vacation houses and lots -o- stuff.

Whoa, not so fast, that’s not exactly right in our case.
To get rich was never the big burning desire or we would have been long gone and into something else or trying to expand too quickly by grabbing more and more business, more than the two of us could have possibly dealt with. Actually, believe it or not, we wanted a little intimate business that we could enjoy handling for the satisfying aspects and at a minimum of stress sake. What we have hoped we’ve accomplished was to offer quality services to special people who could appreciate them and the personal touches and communications that we’ve featured and built our business on.

We know we cannot satisfy everyone that comes to Okefenokee and all their wants and needs, we don’t try. What we try to communicate through this web site and by other means is, what are the high quality services we provide and what are the parameters of the services we’re offering and to put it all as clearly and concisely as possible for you to understand. To those whom we cannot fit their particular needs, we are sorry but this is what we are and how we must function in order to carry on as a business. Sometimes, it seems we are marching to a different drummer and the odd ones out in a bigger is better, overtly growth without bounds oriented business world. A world that does not leave much room for a consciously limited size business.

After reading all this, we can only hope it will at least help you understand our business Okefenokee Pastimes a little bit better and if we feel right to you, please choose us to patronize when you visit the Okefenokee.
thank you – us
