July Wildlife Notes

July Okefenokee Wildlife Notes:

Young herons, egrets and ibis, now fully fledged, leave the rookeries.  Wood storks may be observed feeding in the prairies.  Look for red-headed woodpeckers and pine warblers in pine forest uplands.   Loblolly Bay is in bloom.  White-tailed Deer bucks grow their new sets of velvet-covered antlers, and are best viewed in the early morning.  Young wood duck are beginning to fly.
