July Okefenokee Wildlife Notes:
Young herons, egrets and ibis, now fully fledged, leave the rookeries. Wood storks may be observed feeding in the prairies. Look for red-headed woodpeckers and pine warblers in pine forest uplands. Loblolly Bay is in bloom. White-tailed Deer bucks grow their new sets of velvet-covered antlers, and are best viewed in the early morning. Young wood duck are beginning to fly.
